INTRODUCTION TO THE CHAVIN
The ancient Chavin society thrived from around 900 to 200 BCE, and was centered around Chavín de Huántar, a religious ceremonial center, that did not have the requirements do be considered a city. However, the society became more complex as influence spread and surrounding people came to worship the Chavin gods. As the community grew, the Chavin people made remarkable advancements in culture and continued to influence many other civilizations, uniting the majority of the Peruvian Andes during the height of their power.
